Gender in the Police Advisory Section (PAS)

- The European Council adopted an operational paper and a ‘check list’ on ‘the implementation of UNSCR 1325 in the context of ESDP’, additionally the Council adopted conclusions on ‘mainstreaming gender in ESDP’,
- We commit ourselves to gender mainstreaming within our own mission, and to work on the promotion and integration of gender equality with our partners, the Palestinian Civilian Police (PCP), and Palestinian Criminal Justice System (CJS).
 
Gender mainstreaming concerns both sexes man and women, and requires the commitment and participation of both men and women to achieve a comprehensive and effective response in the Security Sector on the services and protection of the entire population.
 
 
- In the Police Advisory Section (PA) the Police Gender Advisor ensures in a two folded way the integration of gender:

 Firstly - She internally supports and assist  the Police Advisors with integration of gender in all relevant projects like  training, human recourses, criminal investigation department, uniform police.- Provides gender briefings to incoming new mission members,- provides regular reports,- ensures media activities in the area of gender and policing.
 
Secondly - she externally supports and provides technical expertise to PCP gender advisor in order to ensure the integration of gender in the PCP in a cultural and effective manner. - supports and raises the awareness on the specific gender sensitive needs of women, men, boys or girls in various programmes, projects and activities in a effective and contextual manner.- supports close cooperation with local and international gender interlockers - enhances cooperation and coordination on gender in the Security Sector with other relevant security pillars.

Statement by gender advisor Palestinian Civil Police
 
A delegation of officials from the Palestinian National Authority Prime Minister’s Office, the Palestinian Civil Police and Palestinian Ministry of Women’s Affairs visited Brussels recently and met with EU officials, EU Member States, and the European Parliament to discuss the achievements in the security sector in the Occupied Palestinian Territory.
