Jericho, 22nd October 2012, Twenty six Palestinian Police Officers have successfully completed a specialized two-week training programme in Operations Room Management at the Palestine College for Police Sciences in Jericho to enhance their skills in managing Operations Rooms.
The course was delivered by specialist Command and Control trainers from the Jordanian Police, following a study visit to Jordan earlier in the year by Palestinian Civil Police Operations Room representatives and the EUPOL COPPS Command and Control Advisor.
The recipients of the course, who are working in the 11 District Operations Rooms across the West Bank and Ramallah Central Operations Room, will strengthen their capabilities and skills in dealing with telephone calls from the public and coordinating Police response to incidents.
“The programme will assist in providing improvements in effectiveness and professionalism and develop increased trust and confidence in the service provided by the Police to the communities of the West Bank,” EUPOL COPPS Police Advisor, Andrew Udall from the UK, said.
The training has been funded by the Dutch authorities and assisted by UNOPS, in coordination with EUPOL COPPS. Other specialised courses are to be delivered which form part of the Jordanian programme and include Crisis and Major Incident management, Information Gathering and Analysis, and Tactical and Operational Planning.
