Chief Palestinian Justice awards EUPOL COPPS Justice Adviser

Ramallah, 4th June 2013 - Chief Palestinian Justice Farid al-Jallad on Tuesday commended Emily Rakhorst, justice expert in the Rule of Law section of EUPOL COPPS. During the ceremony, which was also attended by top aides of Chief Justice as well as Theo Jacobs, Head of EUPOL COPPS Rule of Law Section, Farid al-Jallad praised Ms Rakhorst for her extensive and appreciated efforts in supporting the work of the High Judicial Council (HJC) during the last 5 years.

Ms. Rakhorst, from The Netherlands, arrived on 31 August 2008 and has been working with the Palestinian High Judicial Council ever since. She has worked with the HJC on several matters such as evaluation of forensic evidence, training judges of the Corruption Crimes Court, strategic planning and action plans for the HJC as well as timelines for cases in court.

Most recently, she also provided advice on infrastructure projects, on project cycle management and on working procedures of the courts notification offices and of the Inspection Department. Furthermore, she has been actively involved in the supporting the establishment of specialized units from the police dealing with juvenile throughout the West Bank and she worked with the Ministry of Social Affairs on the establishment of a National Committee on Juvenile Justice.
