Ramallah, 13th May 2010 - EUPOL COPPS members participated together with Palestinian Civil Police officers in the Open Day organized by the European Commission Technical Assistance Office (ECTAO) in Ramallah last 9th May to commemorate the Schuman Declaration, the document that gave birth to the European Community back in 1950.
This year, the EU celebrates not only the 60th anniversary of its creation, but also the recent entry into force of Treaty of Lisbon, which has created a new and more efficient institutional framework.
EUPOL COPPS and the PCP shared a stand in this event, that was opened by the Palestinian Authority’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Riad Al MALKI, together with the Head of the European Commission Technical Assistance Office (ECTAO)’s Jerusalem Office, Christian BERGER.
Hundreds of Palestinians visited the stand throughout the day and had the opportunity to be informed about EUPOL COPPS and its relations with the PCP, receiving brochures and other information materials that had been printed for this occasion.
Many university students, youngsters and children approached the stand as well, where they were given a set of items from EUPOL COPPS, others from the PCP and some joint ones -such as flags and key chains- with both logos, as a visual example of the fruitful partnership and cooperation between EUPOL COPPS and the PCP.
