Jericho, December 11th 2012 - A senior Palestinian trainer concluded a self defence tactics course in Jericho for five police officers from Protection Guard Unit with the support of EUPOL COPPS training team and the Specialised Public Order Adviser.
This joint course allowed the certification of five PCP Protection Guards officers as Police Side Handle Baton (Tonfa) user and the second to graduate an additional Tonfa trainer from the Palestine College for Police Sciences in Jericho.
During this course, a pilot project elaborated by the EUPOL COPPS training team was used so as to focus on technical and pedagogic matters with the goal to establish future standardised evaluation process for all coming “Train of Trainers” programs.
In September and October, similar training in self defense tactics took place involving 46 officers from the prisons of Ramallah, Jericho, Jenin, Tulkarm, Nablus, Bethlehem and Hebron. They were trained by the Palestinian Special Police Force (SPF) trainers in the presence of EUPOL COPPS’ advisors.
