Ramallah, 19th April, 2010 - EUPOL COPPS’ Head of Mission, Henrik MALMQUIST, attended today’s culinary contest organized by the Palestinian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities in the village of Arura (central West Bank) for cooking the largest Mousakhan ever and joining the Guiness Book of Records.
Commissioner MALMQUIST joined the Palestinian Prime Minister, Salam Fayyad, the Minister for Tourism and Antiquities, Khoulud Daibes and the Governor of Ramallah, Leila Ghanam, as well as other national and local authorities for the occasion.
He was accompanied by a senior officer of the Royal Mounted Police of Canada, one of the non-EU States that also contributes personnel and resources to EUPOL COPPS.
EUPOL COPPS’ presence at the event is an example of its close cooperation not only with its direct partner -the Palestinian Civil Police (PCP)- but also with the Palestinian Authority and the Palestinian civil society.
Moreover, it is an example of the Mission’s cultural awareness and its support for the hospitality it receives from its hosts, both authorities and society at large.
