Ramallah, 20 October 2011 - The Palestinian Civil Police’s Family Protection Unit and Attorney General’s office participated in a workshop this week in Ramallah and discussed best practices to liaise between police and prosecutors.
The one-day workshop followed the successful study trip to Belgium in May where the Head of the FPU Lt. Col. Wafaa MU’AMMAR and a specialized prosecutor Nisreen RISHMAWI had the opportunity to visit specialised services dealing with Family Protection issues in and around Brussels.
The aim of the activity is to examine ways in order to implement the Belgium experience in Palestinian areas according to the needs of the Palestinians.
Officials from Ministry of Social Affairs, Ministry of Health and Ministry of Justice, also participated in the workshop, which was organised by EUPOL COPPS.
A senior Belgium expert in family protection is due to arrive to the West Bank next month and would visit facilities of FPUs and interview people involved and give advice.
