Jericho, Dec., 22 2011 - Palestinian Civil Police and EUPOL COPPS devised a training lecture on Information Gathering and Incident Management and gave instruction to 20 frontline PCP officers at the new Jericho Police Training College this week.
A Palestinian Police Operations Room Major, Nael OMAR and a EUPOL COPPS Command and Control Expert, Andrew UDALL gave the training on a variety of police sciences such as dealing with a range of major incidents, introducing an information gathering model usable for most types of incidents that will allow frontline officers to gather vital information, necessary for the correct assessment and management of the incident.
“When the Police arrive to deal with any incident, the first thing they need to do is quickly assess what type of incident they are dealing with and what their urgent priorities are,” said Udall, Chief Inspector from the UK, currently seconded to the EUPOL COPPS mission.
“The capture of this information is vital in determining the correct policing response and allows both officers at the scene and the commander in the Operations Room to make important tactical decisions that will facilitate the effective management and subsequent resolution of the incident,” he added.
This recent training is the first of a number of lectures and workshops that Chief Inspector UDALL and his counterpart, Major Nael hope to deliver to front line officers and Operations Room staff over the next six months, in a joint venture to bring enhancements to policing operations and incident management.
