Ramallah, 26 May 2011 EUPOLCOPPS’ Head of Mission, Commissioner Henrik MALMQUIST, met with the recently appointed Police Gender Adviser of the Palestinian Civil Police (PCP), Capt. Wafa SULEIMAN, at EUPOLCOPPS’ Headquarters in Ramallah. The meeting was also attended by the PCP’s Head of Public Relations and Media Department, Brig. Gen. Yousef OZREIL.
Thus, Commissioner MALMQUIST had the opportunity to get some direct insights on all the current gender-related initiatives within the PCP, as well as to congratulate the PCP on this new assignment.
EUPOL COPPS’ Head of Mission embraced the initiative of the Chief of Police, Mj. Gen. Hazem ATALLAH, and underlined the significant progress which has been undertaken within this field, on the ownership and accountability of gender within the PCP.
EUPOL COPPS will continue to enhance its efforts to assist the PCP on this very important subject, in a culturally sensitive and effective manner.
Jointly with a diverse group of national and international stakeholders, it can contribute to increase and sustain stability, justice and security for the entire Palestinian population, men, women, boys and girls alike.
