The PCP inaugurates a Protocol Unit

Ramallah, Dec. 22, 2011 - The Palestinian Civil Police (PCP) has officially inaugurated a Protocol Unit in a ceremony held this week. The newly-established unit aims at supporting the PCP to properly organise ceremonies and other events involving international or/and national official delegations based on best international standards and Palestinian traditions.

The PCP has forged important relations with the world and is frequently hosting guests. In this framework, “an excellent coordination and organisation of these visits, ceremonies and receptions require a practical set of protocol rules and good practices to be followed,” Deputy Head of EUPOL COPPS Mission Sofie Mortier said at the Ceremony, which was attended by dozens of high-ranking police officers.

During the event, PCP Brigadier General Saed Ahmad, The Assistant  of Chief of Police for the Northern Districts,  praised the initiative and stated that “the launch of a Protocol Unit reflects a clear manifestation which shows that the PCP is determined to build  a modern police force”.

EUPOL COPPS Police Advisor, Estela Argudin Pombo, and Reporting Officer Koussay Boulaich, have closely advised and supported the Media and Public Department of the PCP in the establishment of the unit.

This EUPOL COPPS-funded project included the creation of a PCP Guidebook of Protocol Basic Rules and Practices, technical equipment and a workshop for PCP senior officials on protocol matters.
