EUPOL COPPS supports Police Family Protection Unit

Ramallah, 31st March 2014 - EUPOL COPPS delivered 500 copies of publications to the Family Protection Unit (FPU) of the Palestinian Civil Police (PCP), containing the Standard Operating Procedures and working forms of the FPU, which was endorsed by the Chief of Police on 27 January 2014. The publications were funded by EUPOL COPPS and the Standard Operating Procedures were developed with the Mission and UN Women’s assistance within the UK Department for International Development (DFID) funded project on delivery of security and justice services for women.

A team of EUPOL COPPS advisors, with cooperation of other relevant institutions of the security, criminal justice and social affairs sectors, civil society organisations and relevant international organisations, have assisted the PCP to achieve the following results:  On 3 June 2013 the Chief of Police endorsed the FPU Strategy and Regulation setting forth the strategic plan and regulating the organisation, functions and duties and responsibilities of the FPU. On 27 January the Chief of Police endorsed the Standard Operating Procedures and Job Descriptions of the FPU.
