
Ramallah, 07 of December, 2014 - The Palestinian Anti Corruption Commission (PACC) organized on the 7th of December a celebration of the International Anti- Corruption Day. PACC highlighted the importance of fighting corruption in Palestine in order to further strengthen its institutions, with the ultimate aim to have a Palestine freed from corruption.
A list of accomplishments reached in 2014 were read out, with particular emphasis on the 450 complaints filed with the PACC during the course of the year. The legislative efforts put in place by PACC were also highlighted, as they have enabled the development of a coherent and efficient legislative framework which is needed to fight corruption in Palestine.
EUPOL COPPS warmly welcomes the statement of the PACC Commissioner, which underlines the genuine commitment of the Palestinian Authority to fight corruption and build its institutions in the best possible ways. EUPOL COPPS also wishes to reaffirm its own support to the Palestinian Authority in tackling corruption. In this regard, the mission further welcomes the strong words of support for the work of the PACC, made by President Abbas at the conference. The mission acknowledges the excellent efforts made by the PACC in developing the Anti Corruption Legislations and will continue to work closely with the PACC in the future.
