
This week, EUPOL COPPS has organized a five-day study visit for several Palestinian judicial institutions to the Romanian Judicial Institute and the Romanian Judicial School. During the visit, the participants were introduced to training programs for judges, prosecutors, administrators. Furthermore, presentations was provided on the relationship between the Judicial Institute and the Ministry of Justice, Public Prosecution, and the Supreme Judicial Council, and the relationship and coordination between those institutions. This visit is also very important and relevant following the appointment of a new director for the Palestinian Judicial Institute (PJI).
The Palestinian delegation consisted of Mr. Mohammad Abu Sundos, Deputy Minister of Justice and of several members of the Palestinian Judicial Institute, including its Head, Judge Rasha Hammad. High Judicial Council (HJC) representatives were also part of the delegation, with its Secretary General Judge Raed Assaf, Mr. Amer Shahim, Chief Justice's advisor on Court Affairs as well as Mr. Majdi Sharaab, Head of the training unit of the Attorney General Office and Chief Prosecutor in Tulkarem.
This visit will be linked to the study visit of December 2014 when Chief Justice and Judge Thuraya (PJI former director) as members of the Palestinian delegation, met with the heads of the mentioned Romanian institutions and the intensive training that the project manager of PJI had in the same institutions in September 2015.
